This is a self-portrait which I began in 2006, but which remained incomplete when I moved abroad. In it I was exploring the layers of my identity as a modern Appalachian woman. I will probably go back and finish it, but I kind of like it in this state as well so I thought I'd share.

Thank you, Viktor. I prefer to create things that make one think, rather than just be pretty. Gets me all kinds of grief at home with the *Who is going to want that?* line....but the art exists first for me (or I won't have the patience to finish it) and then I hope someone out there will find value in it.
